OUR INITIATIVES
Our initiatives include: the CROP Hunger Walk, End Hunger Durham, HomeShare Durham (which is on hold), Amazing Faiths Dinners and other inter-religious programs. DCIA is the local manager for the federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) and for local Durham County Food Security Grants.
We are also the fiscal agent for Duke Mutual Aid and Locked Up to Living Life.

ASSEMBLY MEETINGS
Our assembly of spiritual communities and non-profit organizations meets monthly in area organizations to share a meal, stories, and information about resources in Durham. In the past we have had presentations on affordable housing and homelessness, hunger relief, criminal justice and racial disparities, fair employment, at-risk youth mentoring and career preparation, mental illness, education, domestic violence, and a variety of other topics related to poverty, racism and violence. At each, a problem or a program addressing it is related to opportunities for congregations to respond with action.

WORKERS RIGHTS BIBLE STUDY GUIDE
Our spiritual communities promote a more equitable, participatory economy for all in their relationships and in their involvement with educational services for young children, mentoring and career-preparation with teens, supportive employment for those in recovery and the formerly incarcerated, and a livable wage for all. Another element of our anti-poverty agenda is expanded rights for workers to organize themselves for fairer wages and safer workplaces. This grows out of our spiritual values, and as an example of one context for that, we provide a study guide of worker issues connecting with different Bible texts.
